The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi will on Saturday, 14 April, declare his intention to contest the July 24, Ekiti state governorship election.
Fayemi, who was the governor of the state between 2010-2014, revealed this to newsmen at his Isan Ekiti country home.
Fuji dancehall master Amb. Sulaimon Adio Atawewe, will be leading other entertainers to perform at the declaration rally.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said he choose Saturday for his formal declaration at the state party secretariat because he does not want to disregard the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Fayemi had earlier met with members of his ward, local government and state executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He cautioned members and aspirants against campaign of calumny.
He enjoined them to shun acts of discord and work towards a common goal to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July.
The minister also issued a red card to the party amidst cheers from the mammoth crowd of party supporters that graced the meeting.
When we spoke with the campaign team on why Atawewe is the choice of the minister, they said the minister is a man of class and that he is not lousy aspirant, as such the need for easy and calm artist arise and Atawewe was chosen.
