Ekiti 2018: Fayemi Wins APC Governorship Primary

Minister for Solid Minerals and a former governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has won Saturday’s rescheduled governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, after winning majority of the votes cast at the exercise.

The Minister who served one term as governor of Ekiti State (2010 -2014) having been defeated in his reelection bid in 2014, polled 941 votes to beat about 31 other aspirants who competed in the vote.

Chief Segun Oni, also a former governor of the state and ex-Deputy National Chairman of the party, came a distant second with 481 votes while Engr. Kayode Ojo polled 281 votes to place third.

Some of the votes polled by other aspirants are – Mr. Femi Bamisile (179), Dr. Wole Oluyede (121), Senator Gbenga Aluko (86), Chief Sesan Fatoba (43), and Mr. Bimbo Daramola (28).

Fayemi will face the ruling party in the state’s, PDP candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola in the July 14, 2018 governorship election.
