The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has turbaned the minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, (rtd) as Baraden Kano. 

The turbaning ceremony took place on Friday, 11 May 2018, at the Emir’s Palace, Kano. The wife of the president, Hajia Aisha Mohammadu Buhari and other dignitaries attended the event 

The title of Baraden Kano was adopted from Sokoto Sultanate, and Dambazau is the first to clinch it in the recent history of the emirate.

Historically, the titled was given to valiant soldiers who exhibited high level of bravery during wars.
