In a bid to have smooth and violent-free elections in the country, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris hosted major stakeholders to a one-day seminar last Thursday, August 30, at the state capital, Osogbo.
The theme of the seminar, which was co-ordinated by the IGP’s Principal Staff Officer in Lagos, ACP Bode Ojajuni, is: ‘The Imperativeness of Police Collaboration with Essential Stakeholders: Towards Secured, Free and Credible Elections in Nigeria’.
According to Ojajuni, “The essence of organising the event was to kick-start numerous security enlightenment programmes lined up to sensitize and enlist the support of essential stakeholders towards securing 2019 General elections”.
The Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede was the Chairman/Moderator at the event.
The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr W. Stuart Symington and other dignitaries attended the event.
The IGP and his delegstion also paid courtesy Visit to the Ooni of Ice, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi at his palace in Il e-Ife.
