A man in Bauchi who was reported to have died after throwing himself into a drainage system, known in local parlance as gutter, and drinking the liquid contents, Aliyu Sani, has debunked news of his death.
Mr Sani told DailyTrust in a telephone interview on Wednesday that he had not suffered any complication from consumning the liquid contents of the drainage as purported by rumours.
The painter had vowed to spend some minutes inside a drainage system and drink its liquid content if President Muhammadu Buhari is re-elected.
A picture of Sani with the ‘4+4’ finger sign of Buhari’s campaign after emerging from the drainage went viral on social media.
News of the painter dying as a result of gastrointestinal bleeding in a hospital, spread on Tuesday.
However, Sani told the newspaper, “As I am talking to you now, I am on my way back to Bauchi after we finished a painting work somewhere outside Bauchi.
“It is true, I made the promise before the elections and I fulfilled it and I have no regrets.”
