Olowo of Owo, Oba Olateru-Olagbegi, Dies At 77

The traditional ruler of Owo kingdom, Oba David Victor Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, 111, CFR, is dead.
Oba Olateru-Olagbegi, who died yesterday night at the age of 77, was the eldest son of the late Oba Titus Olateru-Olagbegi 11.
The late monarch was installed in 1999 by the Owo kingmakers but was given the staff of office by the late governor Olusegun Agagu on December 11, 2003.
A lawyer by profession, Oba Olateru-Olagbegi received his first degree in law from London, UK and attended Nigeria Law school, in 1968 before practising Law under the tutelage of late Fatai Williams and rose to the peak of his career as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

He was appointed Chancellor of the University of Benin in 2005 and later chancellor University of Abuja. He was the chancellor of the University of Jos and former chairman of the Ondo council of Obas.
Oba Olateru-Olagbegi was married to Olori Ololade Olateru Olagbegi and the family was blessed with children and grandchildren.
