Irrfan Khan‘s untimely death at 53 has sent the entire nation into mourning. We all were in a state of shock, then the news of Rishi Kapoor passing away came a day later. Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30 after battling with leukemia for two years. Bollywood lost two gems of Indian cinema. Amitabh Bachchan shared a post on his Instagram handle questioning the grief of losing Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Sharing a collage of three pictures with both Irrfan and Rishi, Big B wrote, “The death of an elder celebrity vs death of a younger .. the grief of the latter more intense than that of the former .. why ..? The younger more tragic Why the loss of the young seems more tragic than that of the older .. Because you lament the loss of opportunity in the latter .. unrealised possibilities”(sic).
Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor worked in movies like ‘Naseeb’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ among others. Their last movie together was ‘102 Not Out’. Irrfan Khan and Amitabh Bachchan worked in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’. Mr. Bachchan has many fond memories with both and we can understand how much he might have felt sad by back-to-back death of both the actors. It was Amitabh Bachchan who first broke the news on his Twitter handle of Rishi Kapoor’s death. He wrote on Twitter, “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !” The actor later deleted the post and wrote an obituary on his blog.
