Great Ife Alliance, an alumni group of Obafemi Awolowo University has handed over a newly renovated residential block of Mozambique Hall to the Management of the school.
The group which comprises of alumni from the 1990s was led by of its members, Chris Adetayo and Kike Fadeyi in handing over the renovated hall.
They thanked the school authority for providing the enabling environment for alumni to make contributions to the institution’s continuing growth and development.
They assured of the Alliance’s commitment to complete the renovation of the remaining blocks in the Hall, having now renovated and handed over two of the residential blocks in the hall.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitayo Ogunbodede, thanked the Great Ife Alliance for its contributions to the institution.
He expressed his hopes that other alumni will be encouraged by the selflessness of the members of the Alliance and step forward to contribute their quota to the school’s development.
After speeches by other officials of the school, the Vice-Chancellor cut the tape to formally reopen the newly renovated blocks of residence.
He was supported at the occasion by other high ranking officials of the institution, including the Bursar, Mr S.O Ayansina; the University Librarian, Prof. F.Z. Oguntuase; the Director of Student Affairs, Prof. I. Aransi; and the Chairman of OAU Ceremonial Committee, Prof. Charles Ukeje; and the Mozambique Hall Warden, Mrs Okoroafor.
