…Why He Is Buried In Belgium
Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Nigerian billionaire, Antonio Oladeinde Fernandez will be buried today.
The ELITES reliably gathered that Ambassador Fernandez’ final resting place will be in Belgium, where he lived in the last few years of his life, and where he breathed his last.
His burial ceremony is slated to hold today, Friday, September 18, 2015.
The religious ceremony will take place at 12pm, at Eglise Notre Dame du Sablon in Brussels and will be followed by burial at the Cimetiere d’Ixelles, Chaussee de Boendael, 478.
Sources revealed that the family has been meeting through long distance conferencing and skype. Fernandez’s first daughter, Teju Phillips traveled to Belgium to assess the situation on ground, and she has since returned to the country.
It was gathered that one of the reasons, which shaped the decision of the Fernandez family to bury their patriarch in Belgium is not unconnected with the fact that most of his children reside outside Nigeria. Of all Ambassador Fernandez’ children nine children, only two- Teju Phillips and Gbemi Fernandez live in Nigeria. The others- Anthony, Akin, Titi, Koye, Oyinkan, Atinuke and Abimbola, are based in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Ambassador Fernandez died on Tuesday, September 1, at exactly, 6:05 pm, in a private hospital in Brussels, Belgium. He was aged 86 years.
The ELITES gathered that many prominent dignitaries in Nigeria are expected to attend the burial ceremony this Friday.
However, the family is also planning to host a grand Thanksgiving Service and reception party in Lagos, later this year.
Ambassador Fernandez, the Baron of Dudley and Garsan Fulani Kano, was born in Lagos in August 12, 1929, to the famous Olumegbon royal family of Isale-Eko, Lagos State.
