Late Etsu Nupe’s Wife Laid To Rest In Bida

imageThe remains of Hajiya Fatima Bintu Bagudu, the youngest wife of the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, was yesterday laid to rest in Bida after the Janaiza prayers held at Wadata Palace in the town.

Hajiya Fatima died Sunday night at Abuja National Hospital after a protracted illness and the Janaiza prayers was held yesterday with the Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and the minister of state for Solid Minerals, Hon Abu Bawa Bwari, in attendance.

The Janaiza prayer was as led by the Chief Imam of Bida, Sheik Adamu Yakatun who prayed that Allah (SWT) grant the deceased eternal rest.

The burial session attracted many from within and outside the state.

Also at the prayer were the deputy governor of Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Ketso; immediate past deputy governor in the state, Ahmed Musa Ibeto; Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Shedu Namaska; Emir of Borgu, Barr. Mohammed Dantoro; Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, and the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bahago, as well as the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto and the Barede Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Salihu.

The burial was also attended by the elder brother of the deceased, Senator Isah Mohammad, who is also Waziri Nupe, as well as other top traditional title holders in Nupe Kingdom.

Others at the burial are the Shaba Nupe, Alhaji Abdulmalik Ndayako; Kpotuni Nupe, Alhaji Mankwo Abdullahi; Mankun Nupe, Alhaji Mahmud Ndayako, Wambai Nupe, Engr. Ndagi Abdullahi, Narkodi Alhaji Abdulazeaez Sonfadako Bello, as well as commissioners and local government council chairmen led by Bida local government chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Saddiq Mohammed.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Bida, Sheik Adamu Yakatun, urged everyone to draw lessons from the death, noting that death is inevitable for all living souls, hence there is the need for everyone to have the fear of God in their dealings on daily basis.

Meanwhile, former governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has condoled with the Etsu Nupe over the death of his wife, Hajiya Fatima Bintu Bagudu(Maami).

In a signed statement, the spokesman to the former governor, Mr. Israel Ebije, said Aliyu was shocked and saddened at her death, and prayed that Allah grant her Aljanna Firdaus.

Gov. Sani Bello Consoles Etsu Nupe over Wife’s Death

Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has expressed deep shock at the sudden death of Hajiya Fatima Bintu Bagudu, the youngest wife of the chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.

The governor lamented that though all mortals must taste death, the early departure of the Etsu’s wife was painful in view of her modest achievements during her brief stay.

“Though no one can determine when he or she will answer the call of the creator, we are only grieved now because Hajiya Fatima Bintu Bagudu, the wife of our esteemed and highly revered Etsu Nupe, passed on at a very tender age.

“She will not only be missed by the palace for her humility but by the entire Emirate Council for her doggedness in the promotion and preservation of Nupe culture,” Gov. Sani Bello said.
