PDP Crisis: Sheriff Asks Governors To Key Into Reconciliation

A factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has ‎appealed to governors elected on the party’s platform to key into the current reconciliation process going on between him and the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party.

‎Governor Ayodele Fayose of Etiki State ‎had on Thursday expressed pessimism that the reconciliation move by the two factions of the part would not work unless the Appeal Court decides on it, adding that PDP governors were not consulted, while the cases in court remained.

But inaugurating the ‎factional Delta State executive on Friday, in Abuja, Sheriff who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh said he and Makarfi were committed to the reconciliation process, expressing optimism that the party’s crisis would soon be over.

‎”The governors should be part of the reconciliation and not fanning the embers of war. We want to encourage and re-assure our members nationwide that the two leaders are committed to genuine reconciliation.

“‎The inauguration of the Delta Executive today is to ensure that the state remain a PDP state. So I urge you not to let the people down, carry everybody along because politics is a game of number. Open your doors for everybody.

“‎The fraternity is what makes a political party to grow. So adhere strictly to the constitution of the party. We are determined to ensuring that the arrangement in the horizon is not wasted,” he said.
