Former Minister of State for Defence, Mr Musiliu Obanikoro, has regained freedom after days of detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Obanikoro’s associate, Demola Olarewaju, who confirmed the development to an online media last night, added that Obanikoro has been released and now resting in Abuja.
It was gathered that Obanikoro was released at about 5pm yesterday.
The former Minister was detained on October 17 after returning from the United States to submit himself to the EFCC on fraud allegations.
It was gathered that Obanikoro paid N100 million to the commission out of the over N800 million he was accused of spending.
Sources within EFCC confirmed to an online Media that the formerminister’s passports were confiscated.
Obanikoro’s lawyer, Mr. Onoja said that the passports would be returned to his client anytime a request is made.
