How Gov Obaseki Spent His First Day In Office

img_3028New Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, Monday began the task of governance.

True to his inaugural speech that work begins immediately, Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu began project inspection in the state few hours after they resumed office.

Obaseki wore French suit and red tie while his deputy wore khaki, a reminder of Adams Oshiomhole days.

Government House staff were surprised that the Governor resumed office at about 7:45am. Not many of them have opened their offices.

Obaseki inspected the guard of honor and proceeded to his office.

He spent few minutes to address Permanent Secretaries in the state before proceeding to cross checks handover notes with his deputy.

The new governor was taken round government house by the Head of Service but unlike his predecessor that people ran after even when he (Oshiomhole) is walking, Obaseki walked slowly listening attentively.

Several persons that thronged government house to continue victory celebration were disappointed as ‘no loitering’ directive was issued out.

The new governor shunned visitors to avoid distraction and rather held tactical meetings with his new team.

Swearing in ceremony started at the scheduled time of 10am.

Towards fulfilling his campaign promise on focusing on technical education, Obaseki visited the Benin Technical College to ascertain what things need to be put in place.

He has said he has six weeks to run government with Permanent Secretaries to reorder governance with a view to reducing cost.
