The body of the late former governor of Niger State, Engr Abdulkadir Kure arrived Nigeria from Germany yesterday and was received at the Minna Airport by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and immediate past governor of the state, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu as well as traditional rulers.
The late former governor will be buried in Minna today, after the Janaiza prayer by 12pm at the Minna Eid Praying Ground.
The three day Fidau prayer approved by the Estu Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida will hold at the Central Mosque shortly after interment.
The late Kure’s remains arrived the airport from Germany where he died on Sunday afternoon at about 8:24pm in a plane Dornier with registration number, 5N-FCT and was accompanied by the deceased’s wife, Senator Zaynab Kure and the member representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Hon Umar Mohammed Bago from Germany.
When the aircraft landed the Minna airport, the governor, Gen Abdulsalami, former governor Aliyu and his wife, Hajiya Jummai, went aboard to console Senator Kure before they came out together.
The deputy governor of the state Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, former deputy governor Ahmed Musa Ibeto, Emir of Minna Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, Etsu Agaie Alhaji Nuhu Yusuf and Emir of Lapai Engr Umaru Bago Tafida, were among the dignitaries who received the body.
A crowd of sympathisers were also at the airport to receive the body.
A family source hinted that the body was brought to Nigeria enroute the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja aboard a Lufthansa airline and was received at the airport by dignitaries including former governors and former Senate President and military governor of Niger state, David Mark.
The remains of the late Kure left Abuja for Minna in another aircraft arranged by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) where he worked and retired as a director.
When the deceased’s body arrived his residence in GRA Minna, at about 9pm, the residence was filled to capacity with sympathisers who had come to condole with his family.
