Afenifere Condoles With Niyi Adebayo On The Passing of His Father

The Afenifere Group, the Yoruba social, cultural and political organization, Ekiti state chapter, hereby express their condolences to the first executive governor of Ekiti state, on the death of his father, retired Major General Adeyinka Adebayo,himself a former governor of the old Western state,from 1966/71.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Elder Yemi Alade and the Publicity secretary, Chief Biodun Akin Fasae, Afenifere expressed gratitude to God for a life well spent and described the late army general as a gift to Ekiti, Nigeria and Africa. Afenifere is full with pride to be associated with Baba, particularly through his son, HE, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, who became governor during his life time. Late Gen Adebayo has left indelible mark on the sands of time that cannot be erased.
“It is our belief that the Ekiti and particularly, Iyin would forever remember the contributions of Baba to the eventual creation of Ekiti in 1996, a journey that started when Gen Adebayo was military governor of the West, when he carved Ekiti into four divisions from one,” The Afenifere said.
