NANS By-election: Onuegbu Josephat Emerges National Treasurer

Comrade Onuegbu Emeka Josephat of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, has emerged the National Treasurer of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Comrade Josephat’s emergence followed the NANS’ 72nd Senate meeting held between 2nd and 4th March, 2017, at the Federal College of Land and Resources Technology (FECOLARTa), Oforola, Imo State.

According to the communique issued by the NANS Senate President and Clerk, Salalm Oyejide and Salaudeen Olanrewaju,  Comrade Udochukwu Minister accepted to step aside for Comrade Onuegbu Emeka Josephat told be elected National Treasurer in the by-election.

Also, Comrade Sa’ad Lawal of Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Jigawa State was elected Director of Sport.

While elections into offices of public relations officer (PRO) and Vice President (External Affairs) were suspended till next Senate meeting.

This is as the NANS Senate has commended the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II over his recent move to control birth rate and polygamy in Kano State.

The communique also seeks the inclusion of Student Union Government in the process of appointing heads of tertiary institutions, in order to build trust and enhance transparency.

It has, therefore,  called for the speedy appointment of substantive vice Chancellor in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
