C’River: Senator Owan, 4 Other Lawmakers Dump PDP For APC

Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial district, John Owan-Enoh and four other lawmakers in the National Assembly of the Peoples Democratic Party have concluded plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming barely two weeks after a former presidential adviser; Senator Florence Ita- Giwa defected to the APC.

Ita-Giwa said she was moving from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join her contemporaries in the APC, claiming that she had been idle in her former party for over one year.

Reliable sources close to John Owan-Enoh said the Chairman, Senate committee on finance in the upper chambers of the National Assembly will on Saturday, April 22, 2017 join APC by registering at the party secretariat at Agbokim Ward in Etung local government area of the state.

The source revealed that four other members of the House of Representatives from the Central and Southern senatorial zones will also defect to the APC within the next one week.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the source said: “As am talking with you from Abuja I can tell you that Sen John Owan Eno has concluded arrangement to declare formally for APC on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his Agbokim Ward.

“He has consulted widely before deciding to defect to be able to take his political destiny in his hands. He met with major political leaders across party lines last two weeks and it was resolved he should leave PDP.

“Further you know there has been no love lost between him and the Governor Ayade and that culminated into dumping PDP he suffered for APC. I can also tell you that he has officially informed APC leadership in the central senatorial and there will there to receive him with over thousands of supporters.

“The movement will be followed with other four house of Representatives members from central and south. Form what has happened so far in the last two years, the PDP leadership does not want some of them so they have to look elsewhere where they can be accommodated, “the source further stated.

Investigations revealed that Owan-Eno has officially informed the APC leadership in the state and they have directed the ward officers and the leadership in the central to receive him on Saturday.

Owan-Enoh started his political career as Cross River state House of Assembly member under the platform of the All Peoples Party (APP) before joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to the development, the Vice Chairman of APC Central Senatorial Zone, Hon Cletus Obun, said the party has informed him about Sen John Owan defection and if he does the needful by Saturday he will be welcomed to the party. And if his coming is going to be an asset for us, it is better for the party

Obun said: “Before now I have been an advocate of making the party bigger and stronger. I think with people like that there will completion and potential, but the party will get stronger.”
