I’ll Contest For Bauchi Gov’ship In 2019 — Bala Mohammed

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, has said he will contest for the governorship of Bauchi State on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mohammed disclosed this on Saturday when he paid a courtesy visit to the newly inaugurated state PDP executives at the party’s secretariat in Bauchi.

He said he was the first person in Bauchi PDP to have expressed his intention to go for the governorship ticket in 2019.

Senator Mohammed said he decided to contest because of what he called the poor performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.

The former FCT minister said he was confident that the PDP could unseat the ruling party in the next election.

According to him, two years down the line, the Governor Mohammed Abubakar-led APC administration had failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizens.

He claimed that the PDP had identified all its lapses that led to its defeat in the last 2015 polls and had solved most of them.

He added that the APC could not perform well in governance like the PDP on the grounds that “the APC is a loose coalition of strange bedfellows with divergent causes.”

According to him, ‘’The coalition of parties that came together and formed the APC are very incongruous with each other. With different manifestos and backgrounds, their only purpose was to make sure they dislodged the PDP which they did without any agenda on ground.”

Senator Mohammed also said although PDP was accused of mismanaging the economy of the country for 16 years, all the existing infrastructures and social amenities such as roads, hospitals, schools among others being used in the country and Bauchi State in particular were provided by the PDP.

“No new project has been commissioned by the present APC administration,” he claimed.
