Anyone who misconstrues Baba Bisi Akande’s altruistic letter to President Buhari on the need for him to take adequate care of his health does not know who the real Akande is.

For those who don’t know, Baba Akande is characteristically blunt, he is not vain; he is not a crass opportunist neither is he mundane.

Above all, he’s no power monger. You can go do your findings.

He is close to Bola Tinubu. In fact, Tinubu regards Akande as his father.

If you don’t know, know now: Akande is stubborn and does not take instructions from Tinubu. Many at times, Tinubu has to beg Baba several times to change his mind on issues. I know this for a fact.

President Buhari, too, knows Akande is not flippant and remains his own man no matter the circumstance.

You are free to denigrate Akande on the letter but he remains essentially who he’s: he does not suffer fools gladly.

I wish Mr Dipo Famakinwa were alive- God bless his soul- he would have said more on this.

Baba Akande remains an unflappable patriot.
