Dear Senator Femi Okunrounmu,
You directed the Yorubas living in the North to come back home. Just in case you didn’t know, l am a Yoruba man and you are not speaking for me, though you claimed to be speaking for Afenifere and by extension, the Yorubas. Therefore, you have no locus standi to direct/counsel the yorubas living in the North to heed the quit notice handed down by some Northern youth groups, purporting it not only meant for the Igbos but for all southerners.
You were the arrowhead used by Jonathan to convene the National conference of 2014 and when Jonathan was inaugurating the conference, he said the unity of Nigeria was not negotiable (though, l don’t subscribe to that statement). However, Senator Okunrounmu, you sat down there and throughout the conference and never challenged Jonathan, who you were very close to, on that statement. But because of your opposition to this government, you became opportunistic, latching on the Biafran agitation to give your futile directive.
Sir, l like consistent people. Unfortunately, you are not. If you had taken this same position under Jonathan, trust me, today l would have applauded you to high heavens. But sir, please spear me your red herring. Don’t get me wrong. I believe in restructuring and true federalism and the implementation of that aspect of the National conference report but sir, you have no locus standi to direct Yorubas in the North to come back home.
Kind Regards
Richard Akinnola
