Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has floored the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the last election in the state, Osagie Ize-Iyamu at the Supreme Court, which affirmed the former as governor of the state.
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Ize-Iyamu, who challenged the election of Obaseki as the governor oF Edo State in the state’s 2016 governorship election.
A seven-man panel of judges led by Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of Nigeria, gave this judgment in favour of Obaseki on Monday in Abuja, laying to rest the dispute over the Edo State Governorship election won by Obaseki.
The apex court said it would give the reasons for its decision on 24 July, 2017.
