President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way to Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, confirmed this to our correspondent at 11.00am today.

Earlier phone calls to Shehu seeking explanation on why there was no national independence festivity by the Presidency today were not answered.

A source at the presidency also confirmed that Buhari left for Maiduguri to celebrate the 57th independence anniversary of the country with soldiers.
