Anambra Guber: Court To Hear Suit Seeking To Stop Obiano

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 9 for hearing the application seeking to stop Governor Willie Obiano from contesting the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
Justice John Tsoho, yesterday, ordered the serving of the court processes on Governor Obiano and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through newspaper publication and pasting on the walls of the Anambra State Liaison Office in Abuja.

Ruling in an ex parte application, Justice Tsoho granted the application abridging the time to hear the suit and for speedy hearing.
The suit was filed by the factional Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Martin Agbaso, against Governor Obiano and INEC, challenging Obiano’s candidacy of the party.
The judge, however, refused to grant the application seeking to restrain INEC from further recognising Obiano as its candidate for the November 18 governorship election pending the determination of the motion on notice.
