Nigerian fashion designer turned businesswoman, Folorunso Alakija recently shared on her social media timeline the story behind how she made her billions and how God got involved in her matter before she got to where she is today.
According to Alakija, she took a leap of “faith” by accepting an abandoned oil bloc that no other people wanted. This got Nigerians upset because, according to most people, her success was as a result of her connections with the political ‘powers that be’, and not by ‘faith’ as she claimed. She had tweeted;
My encounter with the glory of God. When I got to my wit’s end, I covenanted with God for blessings in return for a life long work and walk with Him.
To say that I did not see HIS Glory come into my life would mean I have turned God into a liar.
It is only God who could have brought me from the back burner to the front burner.
He Himself orchestrated and organized by divine intervention, the beginning and continuation of our delving into the oil industry.
The oil block allocated and licensed to us was not wanted by any oil company; we accepted it by faith and it has become the chief cornerstone in West African and Africa as a whole.
The Government came back to “take” 50% out of our 60%,but after a 12 year battle in court, all was restored to the glory of God.
God has continued to be faithful as to be expected and I am here today as part of my fulfillment of my obligations to that covenant.
Nigerians are now angry that the self-acclaimed Nigeria’s richest woman is trying to white wash the real story behind how she acquired her oil bloc.
See some reactions below.
Folorunso Alakija: My Oil Block And How I Became Nigeria’s Richest Woman
Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunso Alakija, has revealed how the oil block which allocated and licensed to her company came to be the chief cornerstone in West Africa and Africa as a whole after initially being rejected by most oil companies years ago.
Did the community that own the petroleum oil well reject it too?
Alakija also revealed how her company #FamfaOilLimited fought the government in court for 12 years over profit sharing and became victorious as she attributed the victory to God.
So Government and this criminal Folorunso Alakija were dragging profit sharing of petroleum and oil well belonging to a whole state and community, while the community were struggling to get clean water, schools, health centers, good roads, good homes, pollution of their land and water due to oil spillage ?
What kind of stupìd government and law do we have in this country?
How can one single person own an oil bloc?
Something that belong to a COMMUNITY or an ENTIRE STATE ?
Yet, all the communities around this oil blocs continue to live in penury.
Imagine this Thief Folorunso Alakija stealing a whole state natural resources and thanking God for it ?
Is she thanking God for her success, conniving with Government to cheat and rob an entire state of over 10 million Nigerians, of their natural resources and wealth ?

It does hurt me so much the Folorunso Alakija’s story is not inspiring after all.
I am highly disappointed, what does she even mean by receiving oil well by faith? That is some crap pulled out of a bulls butt.
I love that she is rich but rubbing it in our face about how her relationship with Maryam was rewarding is double standard!
Precious Iriaevho
I think she should just go and eat her million gotten from…, this is not worthy of emulations…….. What has she invented?
What solution have you brought to mankind?
You got an oil well through military connections, then we won’t rest again, go joor.

Folorunsho Alakija – I became a billionaire without having a University Degree.
Me – Bull. You were given an oil well.
These rich people need to shut up a bit.
We already have Paddy Adenuga insulting our sensibilities with his elitist struggles and now Mrs Alakija wants to pressure us with her unboiled attempt to motivate us.
Give me an oil well and I will burn my certificate and that of my family members and my village people.

“I Became A Billionaire Without A University Degree” – Folorunsho Alakija …
Because she was given an oil in your back yard for free by obasenjo and the original owners of these oil wells are suffering, dying of hunger and poverty, yet they are clapping for Alakija and one Nigeria.. una mumu never do??? Shame

#FolorunsoAlakija for so long we have allowed those who shared Nigeria’s commonwealth tell story they want us to hear. @alakijaofficial is not a story of some hard-working woman who just stumbled into “bad oil well turned good oil well” miracle. I Will do a thread before Monday.
The story is not inspiring. This is a woman who makes dress for late Mariam Babangida and later rewarded with an Oil block to make her the richest woman in Nigeria if not in Africa. This is no hard work!
Abubakar Mundir
How did she make her claimed billions? Everyone gets rich in Nigeria overnight and eventually after Nigerians must have forgotten, resurfaces with claim of having worked hard. Can she refute what OBJ said a year ago? He said he made her get the billions.

It seems I was not the only one who got slightly offended by the ‘How I became a billionaire’ thingy by Folorunso Alakija. Behold, she has responded. This what she has to say (and honestly, I think this is even more offensive);
“The oil block allocated and licensed to us was not wanted by any oil company; we accepted it by faith and it has become the chief cornerstone in West African and Africa as a whole.
The Government came back to “take” 50% out of our 60%, but after a 12 year battle in court, all was restored to the glory of God.”
……..
No one wanted the Oil bloc and she collected it in good faith!? OMG! Is it, so the Oil bloc don’t get spoilt like EBA or what. Oro buruku.

Folorunsho Alakija, Nigeria’s richest woman, has been dragged on Twitter after claiming she obtained her oil block “by faith.” And you know, that’s the overplayed script of many religious Nigerians who feel that to practically show others how they achieved a feat will push them off the rainbow. I personally know some folks like these. If you asked them “How did you get a job in that organization?” or “Who helped you obtain that grant?” all they’d say “it’s God” when in most cases, it’s Satan – literally.

Every body is claiming holy, and Nigeria economy is suffering, forgetting that the system is reciprocal, when you take you give, how come the Nigeria economy is not improving.
“So Folorunso Alakija was basically the Kim K to Paris Hilton for Maryam Babangida that’s how she got her oil bloc and her wealth. Amazing.
— Tobi (@TheTobiSmith) February 22, 2018″
“I have no issue with Mrs Alakija’s Oil bloc she received by faith.
The problem is Nigeria’s system that allows head of state to dash people a Nation’s resources.
— Eka (@Lionezz__) February 24, 2018″
“Time and Luck happened to Madam Alakija quite alright. However when you known your “luck” was an act of corruption, you own it and keep quiet. You don’t grant interviews every week desperate to white wash it.
— Omolola (@lolaloveandart) February 24, 2018″
“Plus it’s strange when y’all drag Madam Alakija all the time for being gifted an oil well. For God’s sake that’s how most people who own them in every country got them. People with power to gift you stuff will give them to you, if you ask properly. I see a teachable moment here.
— We come in peace but we mean business. (@ronaldnzimora) February 24, 2018″
“I don’t get why Folorunsho Alakija constantly feels the need to convince us she worked hard for her money.
Ma’am, you’re almost 70. Enjoy your money and be alright.
— Oluwamayowa George (@Wana____) February 24, 2018″
“That oil field Alakija accepted by faith is one of the biggest oil fields in Africa. They call it Agbami, ask your Yoruba friends what Agbami is in English…. Producing over 500,000 barrels per day
— petrolawyer (@oladapoyusuf) February 24, 2018″
“So Madam Alakija was given an Oil bloc and so f**k what
Same people that use connections to get jobs and the likes are angry at Mrs Alakija.
She got the oil bloc&was diligent with it
Rather than build ur network so people will hand you lifelines ure here trying to belittle her
— Cinderella Man (@Osi_Suave) February 24, 2018″
hayi heyi haayi….There is God oh, there is God ooo.
All these peoples money and oyel wey una dey “sharing”…., there is God oooo.
lol
It’s OK to thank God for your success stories… But it would be more inspiring to me if you can donate just 50million naira worth of mosquito nets and chemicals for vector control in a community where a child would die probably before I finish typing this request……a child dies every two minutes in Africa due to very preventable diseases like malaria, cholera etc. So MA your story will be very very inspiring to me if you contribute to this project our company is putting together with Bayer and ministry of Health, ministry of Environment…. Please also note we do not need cash just buy the mosquito nets and chemical for indoor residual.and hand it over to us… Then Even God himself would be inspired… Enjoy your money MA.

Madame seamstress. The more you talk about your illgotten wealth the more people will detest you. Just keep quiet and stop annoying people who are working hard to make a living.
Yes ,youare wealthy through oil bloc but we can’t see any development you create at your birth town and Nigeria generally
Please distribute the wealth by creating employment for your young graduates from Ikorodu
God bless
Thank you
Mrs Folorunso Alakija. She does not contact her brain before she open her mouth. How many Nigerias have you helped with your wealth? What is your achievement in your home town in Nigeria? What legitimate right do have to own a oil block that belong to the citizens of Nigeria. Please shut up. Your utterances is very bad.You are a fool.God will punish you and your family.
I personally do not understand this hullaballo about being the richest woman without university Certificate. Alakija should then go back to school and get a degree, if that still leaves a vacuum in her life. Is she now saying that women should all forget University Education for oil well as to be rich. Akakija should use her wealth and position in life to promote girls education. Have a genuine cause for Humanity instead of singing her own praises all the time. We all must not know Obassanjo and others that will give us the oil well to be rich. Give back to the society that gave you wealth Madam and Live a life of fullfiment for money is NOT everything in life.
This is an insult to all God fearing people Jesus said that it easier for a camel to enter the eye of the needle than for a rich man to get to heaven
Meaning impossible for a rich man to get to heaven
So if Jesus is interested in your soul how come he is helping you not to enter the gate of heaven when that was supposedly his main purpose to die on the cross
Well I can not blame her since the richest Nigerians ate the pastors
Really happy for your oil block but have you ever thought for a second. If you have done well. The community that own the land are there without electirity that you can install Solar energy to,the roads in that area of is appallin, the schools in that community is nothing to write home about, which you can have school erect like Oprah did in south Africa. The hospitals there are disgusting without Drs,health workers and drugs.Pls do something with this people money that is in hand.Life is not permanent. Are you happy the way that community is. Definitely, then do something.
We all have a short period to live.
