THE Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, has appealed to Muslims in Oyo State to love one another and work in unison in the interest of Islam and for the good of the Ummah as done by Prophet Muhammad and his companions.
Akinola made the appeal last weekend while hosting members of the Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS) for iftar (beaking of fast) at his residence in Ibadan.
The Muslim leader underscored the need for the faithful in the state to close ranks and strengthen the tie among them, especially as doing so in the holy month of Ramadan would earn them bountiful rewards from Allah.
He added that “it is only in an atmosphere of love and brotherhood that Muslims can thrive and advance the cause of Islam.”
Akinola called on Nigerians to sink all sentiments and pray for the well-being of President Muhammadu Buhari so that he could continue with the prosecution of his mission to liberate Nigeria.
“We need to pray fervently for President Muhammadu Buhari because he is the messiah of this nation now. We need to pray for his return to the country in good health and for God’s grace for him to continue the good work he started and end his tenure on a successful note,” Alhaji Akinola said.
He also urged Nigerians to support Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as he holds the fort for the number one citizen, who is receiving medical assistance abroad.
According to Akinola, the actions of the acting president so far showed that he and his principal share the same vision for the country and they are on a mission together.
“Vice President Osinbajo is following in the footsteps of President Buhari. He is propagating Buhari’s programmes. The combination of these two Nigerians to pilot our affairs in this country is a good development. We need them both at their best to salvage this country and that is why we need to pray for the quick recovery of the president,” he added.
The chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS), Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, described the organisation of the iftar by Akinola for Muslims in the state as a proof that no rift existed between Alhaji Akinola and MUSCOYS.
He said the presence of the MUSCOYS members in the home of Alhaji Akinola was borne out of their love and respect for him.
