Abaji Chairman’s Wife Abductors Demand N50m Ransom

The abductors of the wife of the out going chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hajiya Khadeejat Yahaya Garba, are demanding ransom of N50 million to release her.
The chairman’s wife was kidnapped last Tuesday at her husband’s Gigbe village, in Abaji by some gun wielding men.
A family source, who preferred anonymity, confided in our reporter, yesterday, that the abductors have called the family several times and demanded N50 million ransom, which they directed should be delivered at an undisclosed place.
He said the kidnappers have insisted that they will not release her if the ransom was not paid.
“The husband is seriously worried about his wife’s whereabouts and safety,” said the family source.
“In fact, he is worried because it is not easy raising that amount of money.
“They call and then switch off their phones. They have been calling after they abducted her,” he added.
However, The FCT Police Commissioner, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, told our reporter on phone that he was not aware of any demand for ransom from the abductors.
He said: “I am not aware of any ransom being demanded by the kidnappers, but I am assuring that we are working to ensure that the chairman’s wife is released. We don’t want to say something that may jeopardise or put her life at risk in securing her released from the abductors.”
