A businessman, Mr. Amaechi Ahanonu of Amato Orogwe in Owerri West LGA of Imo State who was abducted last week, has been found dead near his village. The father of nine was seized from his home by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers and taken to an unknown destination.
Ahanonu’s body was found in a bush even after the kidnappers had collected N500,000 from the family. The kidnapers had earlier demanded N10m for his release.

A community leader, Mr. Clement Osuoha, told Daily Trust that the body was taken to a nearby mortuary by policemen from the Owerri West Divisional headquarters. The police were not immediately available for comment.
