The management of Aero Contractors has said it regretted any inconvenience the smoke on board flight NG316 may have caused the passengers.
The incident took place on April 18, when flight 316 departed Port-Harcourt airport to Lagos, with 52 adults and one infant, and smoke was noticed on board.
A statement from the company, signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Ado Sanusi, restated its commitment to its numerous passengers and clients.
“We are known for our commitment to safety and professionalism in the industry, which we cannot compromise for anything and therefore sincerely regret any inconvenience this might have caused our esteemed passengers,” he stated.
However, the aircraft landed safely without any incident and the company engineers swung into action with the systems checks.
Sanusi stated that the incident has since been reported to the authorities and preliminary reports suspect that the smoke was from the baggage compartment.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
