Mrs Rebecca Aikhomu, wife of former Vice-President, late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, has advised Halimat Babangida and Auwal Abdullahi to show mutual respect for each other for a successful marriage.
Aikhomu gave the advice in an interview with News Agency Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Friday at the marriage of the daughter of former President Ibrahim Babangida, Halimat and Auwal Abdullahi, Sarki Sudan of Gombe.
“Being from different back grounds, the couple must exercise mutual respect for each other for their marriage to succeed.
“Mutual respect will breed patience, love, understanding, tolerance and care’’, she said.
Aikhomu asked the couple to be patient as they needed time to get used to each other.

“To thrive in their union, they must learn to be patient and tolerant of each other. In life, one needs to be patient in order to achieve goals”, she said.
She also urged them to put God first in everything they do.
“Putting God first before you do anything will go a long way in making ways for you in all your endeavours”, she said
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that governors of Kano, Imo, Oshun, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Justice Fati Abubarkar, were present.
Also present were members of the diplomatic corps and traditional rulers/emirs,.
