Anambra Guber: Andy Uba, Seven Other APC Aspirants Reject Tony Nwoye

Eight governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have asked for the cancellation of the election that produced the party’s candidate, Dr Tony Nwoye.

Dr Andy Uba, one of the 12 aspirants that contested the primary election, had claimed in a petition that the exercise was marred by irregularities.

The secretary of the Dr Hassan Lawal-led Election Appeal Committee, Dr Nosa Aladeselu, said the panel received a number of petitions yesterday while submitting their report to the APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso.

Sen. Izunaso, who received the report on behalf of the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said a final decision on the appeal committee’s report and recommendations would be taken by the National Working Committee (NWC).

But Barrister Nonso Madu, one of the governorship aspirants, had picked holes in the claims of the aggrieved contestants.

Madu said, in a statement he signed, that the accreditation of delegates was conducted through valid means of identification and that the security personnel deployed would not even allow thugs to harass people.
