The Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday said a High Court Judge colluded with a state Governor to frustrate operatives of the DSS from recovering an alleged $2 million stashed in the Judge’s house.
DSS official, Abdullahi Garba, who made this known during a press conference in Abuja, did not give the name of the Governor, the Judge or the State.
However, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in the early hours of Saturday reportedly resisted an attempt by operatives of DSS from arresting a Federal High Court Judge handling the Tai Local Government election matter.
The Governor reportedly stormed the residence in company of the State Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya and resisted the arrest, after getting information that DSS operatives had raided the Judge’s Forces Avenue, GRA residence at about 1.00am and was about taking him away.
The DSS at the press conference said: “In one of the states where the Serve operations were conducted, credible intelligence revealed that the Judge had N2 million United States dollars stashed in his house.”
“When he was approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the State Governor, mobilized thugs against the Service team,” he added.
He said: “the team restrained itself in the face of the unbridled provocative activities by those brought in by the Governor.”
He added that: “Unfortunately, the Judge and Governor also engaged the tacit support of a sister security agency.”
He said: “the Service surveillance team noticed that upon frustrating the operation, the Judge with active support of the Governor craftily moved the money to an unknown location which the Service is currently making efforts to unravel.”
