A former board member of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Zakari Mohammed Sada, has been kidnapped along Abuja-Kaduna expressway on Saturday.
Earlier reports said Mr Sada was kidnapped alongside former chairman of defunct NAL Bank, Muftahu Baba-Ahmed, but family sources said Mr Baba-Ahmed was not kidnapped.
It was gathered from reliable family and security sources that Mr Sada was travelling from Abuja to Kaduna when he was stopped by the kidnappers around Katari area at 5pm on Saturday.
Sources confirmed that the kidnappers had made contact with the family and demanded “huge amount of money as ransom”.
On Friday, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers opened fire on travelers around the same area of the expressway, killing a woman.
The Nigeria Police Force had in June deployed 600 special squad to the expressway to check the menace of kidnapping and armed robbery along the road.
