Baring any last minute change, President Muhammadu Buhari will appoint Justice Adebukola Banjoko as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, where Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and some current state governors are facing trial on multiple counts related to alleged non-disclosure of some personal assets.
Justice Banjoko is the tough female judge that sent former governors Jolly Nyame (Taraba) and Joshua Dariye (Plateau) to jail recently after finding them guilty of corruption as prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Sources with knowledge of the President’s move revealed that Buhari is highly impressed with the judge’s bold rulings that gave the two former governors lengthy jail terms.
“He has therefore decided to send her to the Code of Conduct Tribunal where Saraki is facing trial so that she can close out the case and subsequent prosecutions that will be sent to the tribunal,” the source said craving anonymity.
The president’s spokesmen, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina were unavailable to comment on this report as they did not take calls to their phones.
