President Muhammadu Buhari will preside over today’s Federal Executive Council meeting, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.
The president, according to his itinerary for this week which was sighted by our correspondent, is scheduled to preside over the FEC meeting.
The meeting is billed to hold at 11:00am inside the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A source at the Presidency hinted last night that “all is now set for Mr President to preside over tomorrow’s (today’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council. I can confirm to you very strongly that Mr President will be at the Council Chambers for FEC meeting tomorrow (today).”
Last month, President Buhari was twice absent at the FEC meeting; the development that had sparked fresh concern about his health condition.
Buhari resumes work at office
The president was back in the office yesterday where he received briefings from the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru.
Buhari had in recent times not been seen in public. His handlers said he was taking things slowly on doctors’ advice.
Malami and Baru confirmed to State House correspondents that they briefed the president yesterday on issues concerning their respective offices.
Baru said he briefed Buhari on fuel supply across the country, crude oil and gas productions as well as the ability of the NNPC to supply gas to the power sector. He put the current production at two million barrels per day.
Malami said he briefed Buhari on anti-graft issues, stressing that the president was worried over delay in the passage of anti-corruption bills pending before the National Assembly.
President’s health not as bad as perceived
Meanwhile, wife of the president, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, said her husband’s health condition was not as bad as being perceived.
Mrs Buhari stated this yesterday evening on her Twitter handle, @aishambuhari.
According to her, the president continues to discharge his responsibilities.
This is the first time she will be making comments on her husband’s health since he returned from medical vacation in the United Kingdom on March 10.
