The TV Station, CNBCAfrica, has apologised to a former Vice President, Africa Region of the World Bank, for describing a former Director General of the Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh, as the first African woman to be appointed vice president of the institution.
Ms. Oteh was appointed Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank on Friday.
Soon after the appointment of Ms. Oteh, the TV station tweeted:

But Mrs Ezekwesili was quick to point out the error in the tweet, suggesting that the TV station could have used google search to get its fact right:

Apparently inspired by Mr Ezekwesili’s tweets, another Twitter user, @Nefertiiti pointed out that the immediate Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Mrs Ezekwesili were former vice presidents at the World Bank:

But CNBC stuck to its gun:

That prompted Mrs. Ezekwesili to school the station on the number of African women that have been appointed vice president of the financial institution:

Realising its error, the station then tweeted an apology to Mr Ezekwesili:

It also added that it love seeing African women progress and that the error might have been due to its overzealousness:
