The Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River on students’ matters and youth mobilisation, Michael Obua, has cautioned his boss to stop appointing additional personal assistants, special advisers and other aides.
Obua also called on the governor to sack fellow special advisers and personal assistants who were not effective and efficient at their assigned tasks since they assumed office.
Obua spoke to journalists at the governor’s office, Calabar, yesterday to deny reports that students manhandled him at the UJ Esuene Stadium a day before the governor held a thanksgiving public rally.
Obua claimed that the students’ action at the stadium was reported to him to have been sponsored by some aides of the governor who had ill-feelings against him.
On Monday, Governor Ayade had said that he would appoint an additional 6,000 political aides in January next year.
This would be in addition to the 1,500 special advisers and personal assistants he has already appointed.
