The Chief Executive Officer of Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF), Mrs Aishat Muhammed-Oyebode, has described as devastating the new video released by Boko Haram showing bodies of abducted Chibok girls supposedly killed in airstrikes.

Oyebode, whose foundation has been in the forefront for the release of the abducted school girls, said notwithstanding the optimism the new video offered, it however aggravated trauma of many of the parents.

“If the video is authentic, definitely some news is better than the silence we have had to endure since Amina Nkeki was found. At least I can tell you for sure that a parent has identified his daughter, so some if not all are Chibok girls and as we speak, we are working on identifying the rest of the girls in the video.
“However, it is troubling that we are yet to locate the girls after two years and clearly to hear the Boko Haram leader confidently suggests that we are nowhere near finding them is even more worrying.”
The MMF Chief Executive Officer further lamented the death of another Chibok girls’ father, Bukar Usman, few days ago, whose death she said, “underscores once again how tragic the situation is and how difficult it has been for them.”
