The National Democracy Stakeholder’s Group (NDSG) has urged Nigerians to keep faith in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the federal government deserves a pass mark and vote of confidence for the successes recorded so far.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NDSG and convener of the Walk for a Corruption Free Nigeria, Kletsaint Akor made the plea on Monday in Abuja at a special rally marking the May 29 Democracy Day and anti-corruption efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“We are felicitating with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Acting President Prof Yemi Osinbajo GCON, and all well-meaning Nigerians for a successful Democracy Walk in commemoration of our 18 years of unbroken democracy. We are overwhelmed by the turn out; a sign of democratic awareness amongst the Nigerian people.
“Nigerians are now aware, and ready to engage the system, to contribute their quota in whatever measure in nation building. This could not have happened at a better time following the reiteration of the commitment of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver the campaign promises of the change mantra,” Akor said.
He said it is not a time to argue about what the government has not done well or justify their actions which others feel disappointed about.
He said the efforts of the EFCC have shown that Nigeria can get it right with knowledgeable and committed people at the helm of institutions especially those fighting corruption and working on socio-economic development.
“I will further persuade all well-meaning Nigerians, organisations in and outside Nigeria interested in the fortunes of our democracy and general development to prioritise their support by aligning with the Feral Government and the EFCC, to eradicate corruption in any guise in our system,” he said.
