‘Don’t Borrow Money To Buy Ram For Sallah’, Islamic Scholar Warns

As Muslims prepare for Eid el-Kabir celebration, a Professor of Islamic Studies, Badmas Lanre Yusuf, has warned Muslims against obtaining loans to buy animals for the festivity.

He said such practice was alien to Islamic junctions while everyone was expected to adhere and act in line with the prescription of Islam.

Addressing muslim congregants at Hilal Crescent Mosque, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin, Yusuf reminded that Almighty Allah does not confer on the believers what they lack capacity to do. The don, who is the immediate-past Dean, Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, stated that intention is behind whatever man plans to do, adding that Islam has simplified the process of worshipping Allah.

He said Islam, as a religion of Allah, does not condition its adherents to slaughter animals during the festivity except for those, who have the resources.

The Islamic Scholar, who also clarified the circumstance surrounding the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festival and the imperative of sacrificing animals, said Allah has nothing to do with the blood of the animals killed during the festival.

“Islam is a religion that makes things simple for its adherents, there is no condition attached to what we are doing in our religion. Ileya (Eid-el-Festival) is around the corner now. It is a common knowledge that eligible muslims are preparing to buy animals for sacrifice during the festival,” he said.
