The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered massive deployment of policemen for a hitch-free Eid-El-Kabir celebration across the country.
The order is contained in statement issued by the Force spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Don Awunah in Abuja on Friday.
He said that the I-G also directed all Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zonal commands, to deploy adequate personnel to praying grounds, recreation centres, among others.
Awunah said the police commanders were also directed to collaborate with sister agencies and community leaders to monitor activities of undesirable elements in the society.
He said that the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Units, Explosive Ordinance Department, criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department would also be deployed.
The spokesman said sustained surveillance and special attention would be paid to flash and vulnerable points among others during the sallah celebration and beyond.
“The Nigeria Police Force is confident that with the operational strategies being executed for the Sallah festivities will guarantee a peaceful and hitch free Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
“ The IGP, therefore, wishes the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians a happy celebration,“ he said
He, however, implored them to be vigilant and continue to support the Police to prevent crimes in their localities.
Awunah said Idris commended the commitment of officers in ensuring that security and peace prevailed throughout the country in spite of the enormous challenges.
