Emir of Kano Malam Muhammadu Sanusi ll has sacked his Personal Private Secretary, Alhaji Isa Sanusi Bayero popularly known as Isa Pilot over alleged leaking of vital information from the palace to the outside world.
Until his sudden removal, pilot has been the private personal secretary to the late emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero for many years and he retained the position even after the current emir was crowned in 2014, Daily Trust, gathered.
Daily Trust reliably gathered that the recent development was part of the emir’s plans to re-structure the palace’s working system.
According to a palace’s source, pilot was accused of being responsible for leaking information that led to the just suspended investigation of the emirate over alleged ‘questionable expenditure’ by the Kano state Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission and later by the Kano state House of Assembly.
Though Kano Emirate Council did not issue official statement to that effect, but a source within the palace revealed that, “the issue of pilot’s sacking has been on for a very long time. He has been accused of revealing useful information that is against the current emir to media and other organizations.
“Most of the information that media got which led to the negative stories against emir came through the former private secretary.
“From what I heard, the emir has already assigned his responsibilities as private personal secretary to Alhaji Mustapha, the newly turbaned Falakin Kano and an in-law to the late emir Ado Bayero.”
He said days before he was sacked, the former PPS was intimated about the emir’s plan because he was seen packing his personal belongings from his former office even before the emir assign Mustapha to take charge as his new private secretary.
When contacted for comment, Walin Kano, Alhaji Mahe Bashir Wali, said he was not aware of the development, but said, “What I know is that Isa Pilot is not a staff of Kano emirate council. He has been working for the late emir in personal capacity for a very long time and after his demise, he continued in the same capacity with the present emir.”
