The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Bashar, have waded into the raging impasse between Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar and Magajin Garin Sokoto Hassan Danbaba.
Mr Danbaba, who is a grandson to the late premier of Northern Nigeria and Sardauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello, had previously walked out on the Sultan and resigned his position.
But DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that Northern emirs were unhappy with the crisis rocking the Caliphate, and called on the Sultan and Mr Danbaba to sheath the sword.
It was gathered that the Emir of Kano invited Mr Danbaba to join him in Kano, from where they flew to Sokoto for the reconciliation meeting on Saturday.
Mr Danbaba, who entered the Sultan’s palace with only a cap, emerged with a turban after the reconciliation meeting ended around 5:30pm on Saturday.
The crisis was precipitated by the rivalry between Mr Danbaba and the zonal vice chairman of APC, Inuwa Abdulkadir.
In a letter exclusively published by DAILY NIGERIAN on December 31, 2016, Mr Danbaba had cautioned Governor Aminu Tambuwal against supporting the appointment of Mr Abdulkadir as Marafan Sokoto.
In the letter, dated August 19, 2016, Mr Danbaba said the party leader lacked the character to hold such important title previously held by his late father, Ahmadu Danbaba and later Umaru Shinkafi.
