The ancient town of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State was literary on lockdown as the cream of Nigerian society came in their numbers to honour elder statesman and accomplished politician, Chief Ayo Adebanjo on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
Eminent guests which included Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun arrived early for the first ceremony which was a thanksgiving service at the St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode.
Others at the service, which was officiated by Most Reverend M. O. Fape, included Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; Osun State Governor. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; Otunba Gbenga Daniels, former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Chief Olu Falae, Chief Edwin Clark, Chief Mrs. Nike Akande, AIG Tunji Alapini (rtd), Chief Alex Duduyemi, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, Pastor Tunde Bakare and his wife and many others.
The church service was followed by a grand reception at the celebrant’s compound in Isanya Ogbo wherr everyone was pampered with assorted dishes choice wines as well as pulsating music.
With veteran broadcaster and CEO of BISCON, Prince Bisi Olatilo as Compere, guests all had an exciting time.
The main highlight of the event was the cutting of the gigantic birthday cake baked by Mrs Funsho Taiwo of Celebration Cakes.
