Former Minister of Aviation and spokesperson of the President Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation in the 2015 general election, Femi Fani-Kayode has been accused of using his wife and girl friend to launder money.
The according to SaharaReporters was revealed by source in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC has since Monday last week detained the former minister for allegedly receiving N840m from the party’s campaign funds.
Fani-Kayode was accused of receiving the said amount from the Director of Finance of the campaign organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman, during the build-up to the 2015 election, which the Peoples Democratic Party lost to the All Progressives Congress.
An EFCC insider according to Sahara Reporters said Fani-Kayode was shocked when the anti-corruption agency’s investigators opened their books and showed him practical money trails of how he used his wife, girlfriends and others to launder the money.
He was said to have been confronted by officials of the anti-graft agency with evidence showing he operates 28 secret accts for money laundering.
A source said the reason the lady who gave birth to Fani-Kayode’s son moved out of his big house in Abuja as soon as he was arrested is not unconnected to this; she’s one of those he used to move money.
The source added that EFCC will get everyone involved, both ‘wife’ and girlfriends.
