Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has relaxed the dusk-till-dawn curfew he imposed on the state last week to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The governor yesterday directed that all residents of the state be allowed to ply their trades between 6am and 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
He said that this will allow them to restock and undertake economic pursuits that would keep their households till the curfew will be lifted.
Fayemi had in a state-wide broadcast on Sunday, March 29, announced a 14-day curfew in the state with restriction on human and vehicular movement within the state.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti yesterday during the flag-off of distribution of palliatives to 20,000 indigent persons and COVID- 19 Response, Food Bank, the governor clarified that the harsh measure was taken to protect the populace in view of the daunting nature of the spread of the virus.
He said: “I just got out of self-isolation this morning and this is the first state function I will perform.
“I decided to keep away from you in order not to return to self -isolation I had to observe as part of the ways to check the spread of this virus. “We want to appreciate the tolerance and support of our people since the lockd.
