Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has eulogised the first lawyer in Northern Nigeria, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho Abdulrazaq, SAN, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
The Governor in a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, described the elder statesman as as a patriot, nationalist and outstanding leader of an impeccable service to his fatherland.
According to the governor, A.G.F. Abdulrazaq, who is also the Mutawali’n Ilorin, is a man of remarkable foresight and instinct towards national development.
Governor Ahmed, who recalled the Senior Lawayer’s bold step in laying solid foundation for educational growth in Ilorin by establishing the Ilorin College Ilorin (ICI) now Government High School, Adeta-Ilorin over 50 years ago as well as his numerous contributions to political emancipation a Legal Adviser of the Northern Peoples Congress in the first republic, noted that the nonagenarian remains a true nationalist.
According to the Governor, “As a unique pride of our state, Lawyer A.G.F. Abdulrazaq as has participated in all the Constitutional Conferences that eventually led to Nigeria’s Independence as well as Post-Independence Constitutional Development, won an election to become a Cabinet Federal Minister of Railway and later appointed Nigerian Ambassador to Ivory Coast.
“These are great testimonies to the fact that lawyer AGF is among few living nationalists who saw our dear nation from her cradle to the current status of the biggest economy in Africa. With these and many more achievements and contributions to kwara state and the nation, I gladly salute and celebrate lawyer A. G. F. Abdulrazaq
and wish him more sound health, long life and prosperity on the occasion of his new age.
