I’m Ready To Reconcile With Kwankwaso – Gov Ganduje

After months of frosty relationship that threatened to overheat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has said there is nothing wrong with mending fences with his longtime political ally and former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Admitting that the relationship between him and his predecessor had not been so smooth, Ganduje, who was the deputy to Kwankwaso until 2015, however, said he was open to reconciliation with the former governor.

Governor Ganduje said this during a chat with journalists at his office over the weekend.

“What is wrong in reconciling with a long time friend and political ally?

“After all, we were the best of political allies in the history of Nigerian politics,” he said.

He further stated that he was in support of efforts to end “whatever misunderstandings” that existed between him and his predecessor.

Speaking shortly after commissioning some of the 2,000 blocks of classrooms built within the Kano municipality by the state government in the last two years, the governor said he was determined to tackle the problem of basic education in the state, saying his administration would give basic education the priority it deserved.

He said the state government created an educational trust fund to bring in corporate bodies, community leaders and other stakeholders to contribute in the development of education so as to tackle the problem of basic education by involving the communities in the process.

The governor declared that his administration had already released N1 billion to the federal government as education counterpart funding, while the federal government had in turn contributed N1billion for projects in the sector.
