A prominent Kaduna judge, Justice Bashir Usman Sukola is dead.
He was famous for remanding Vanguard correspondent Luka Binniyat in prison on allegations of false publication against Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai and the state government.

Sukola died around 2am on Wednesday at the Ahmadu Bello Teaching hospital Shika Zaria in Kaduna state after a brief illness.
Aged 57 years, Justice Bashir Sukola, was originally from Borno state but was born in Kaduna.
Sukola who until his death was a judge at the Kaduna state High Court of Justice, is survived by a wife and six children.
