Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr, eldest son of late playwright and Ogoni activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, has died in a London hospital.

He slipped into coma on Monday after suffering a stroke on Saturday.

He was placed on life support, but he died on Tuesday evening.

He had been in and out of the hospital after suffering from a lung-related disease, a source in the know  disclosed.

Saro-Wiwa, who served as presidential aide to ex-presidents Oluegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, schooled at Stancliffe Hall School and Tonbridge School in England and then at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies.

He was editor of the UK Guardian’s New Media Lab, developing content for the newspaper’s online edition.

He would have been 48 on November 28.
