+ Allocates House of Reps Seats To Two Other In-Laws
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presidential aspirant and former governor of Kano State has finally picked his son in-law Abba Kabir Yusuf, for PDP governorship ticket.
Kwankwaso also selected his former commissioner for State Affairs, Aminu Abdulsalam, to serve as running mate.
He also allocated seats of the House of Representatives to his son and brother in-laws.
Mr Kwankwaso made the final endorsements of the two in-laws shortly after endorsing Mr Yusuf on Saturday night.
While Mr Kwankwaso allocated the Tarauni Federal Constituency ticket to his son-in law, Mukhtar Yerima, the party leader re-allocated the Gwarzo/Kabo Federal Constituency to his brother in-law, Nasiru Sule Garo.
Sources said Mr Kwankwaso was initially not disposed allocating the Gwarzo/Kabo ticket to Mr Garo in view of his alleged non-performance as a lawmaker, but he succumbed to “home front” pressure last night.
The nepotism was perpetuated further when Mr Kwankwaso endorsed Munir Dahiru, the son in-law to the state caretaker chairman, Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, for Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimingado Federal Constituency.
It was gathered that the nepotism has brought crack in the Kwankwasiyya camp, with many party leaders threatening to fight against the decision.
The former governor, serving senator and presidential hopeful holds sway as the party leader in Kano since his defection to PDP on July 24.
The endorsement of the Kwankwasiyya candidates for senate and governorship was announced on Saturday night in Kaduna after marathon meeting.
The two top contenders in the Kwankwasiyya camp, Hafiz Abubakar and Salihu Takai, have been pencilled by the leader for senate contest.
Although Hafiz Abubakar had planned to pick the senatorial ticket on Saturday, he shelved the plan after learning that the Kano Central ticket was allocated to a member representing Dala Federal Constituency, Ali Madaki.
The Kano South and Kano North senatorial tickets were allocated to Sani Rogo and Ahmed Garba Bichi.
But insiders say Mr Yusuf as a candidate is a recipe to failure in Kano. According to sources, Mr Yusuf is “arrogant, overbearing and contemptuous” politician who may not be accepted by the people.
“With Abba as a candidate, there must be implosion, rebellion and deep resentment in the Kwankwasiyya camp,” an insider said.
